The HoloGlobe Project

These animations were produced for the Smithsonian Institution and NASA's HoloGlobe Exhibition which opened to the public on August 10, 1996 at the Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. The various data sets show progressive global change mapped onto a rotating globe and projected into space to create a holographic image of the Earth.

Scientific Visualization Studio

View visualizations created by the NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio. Animations are provided as MPEG-1s and MPEG-2s. Some animations are available in high definition as well as NTSC format. Where possible, the original digital images used to make these animations have been made accessible. High and low resolution stills, created from the visualizations, are included, with previews for selective downloading.

Science Animations, North Harris Community College

The use of a well-placed animation in a lecture can help illuminate any number of important concepts in the sciences. Educators seeking high-quality animations need look no further than this very useful site created by staff members at North Harris Community College. The animations are divided into a number of topics, including plants, ecology, astronomy, geology, anatomy, and biology. Each section contains links to a host of fascinating and helpful animations from institutions like Florida State University, Cambridge University Press, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Alberta. As a note, the astronomy and physics areas are particularly strong, and visitors would do well to take a look at the lunar and planetary time-lapse animations offered up by António Cidadão.
